wahoo!!! 5 miles!!!This run was surprisingly easy...I ran 6.5 mph for most of it and did a couple 7.2mph 1 minute sprints here and there when I was feeling up to it.

got to the gym late today!! not sure why....but only had 10 minutes to warm up before my total body conditioning class. Ran a 9 minute mile.

I got a side sticker near the end of my run today. Typical difficult Monday Morning Run :( I'm going to have to run 4.5 on Wednesday to make up for the deficit (I wanted to run 4 miles today.)

I ran half of my run to my ipod today, which I rarely do because I love morning television a bit too much. I found these podcasts last night that I'm realllly excited about:

Today I tried episode 14, "Piano Power"
“Piano Power” 165 BPM - Here are the keys. Luscious piano-flavor tracks hold the key to a great run.
165 BPM was about 6.5 mph for me on the treadmill. This was a great run....but I couldn't maintain it for as long as I hoped. I took one minute walking breaks every 5 minutes, so I got some good interval training in.

Unfortunately, I didn't run this weekend...I had every intention of running yesterday...but by mid afternoon, I decided to embrace the fact that I just had a day to myself with nothing to do. Starting next weekend I HAVE to clock miles on the weekend if I'm going to stick to my training schedule, so it was nice not to have the "pressure" this weekend.

I ran an 8 minute mile today!!! I only had 20 minutes before my Total Body Conditioning class so I warmed up for 5 minutes (1/2 a mile) and then decided to push myself for the last mile before class and see how quickly I could run a mile. I did it in 8 minutes exactly! Eat that Mr. Miller!! (elementary school teacher who made us run the mile....in which I typically clocked between 11 and 13 minutes...swell!)

Tomorrow I'm going to take a yoga class in the morning and then I'll run either Saturday or Sunday this weekend.

I did a good solid, steady 4 miles today..but it was kinda rough. I've noticed that Monday runs are the worst...and it's prob. 99% due to the fact that I eat like crap all weekend. I'm aware that food is strictly "the fuel our body needs" and really shouldn't be anything else. But it's hard to remember that on the weekends. Especially when I am at the mercy of other people's refrigerators. I'm going to try and make a conscious effort to eat much better this weekend. That is my number one goal! I think that if I can start eating like a runner...I'll start feeling more like a runner and it will undoubtedly improve my performance ten fold in training for this half marathon. I would be so proud if I could beat 2 hours this time around.

I did an interval run that was in my fitness magazine this morning. I decided to do it on a whim..but it was great!! I ran for real fast spurts between 7.2 and 7.7 miles per hour for 30 seconds. Followed by a fast walk at 4.3 mph for 1 minute. I didn't run that far but I sure got my metabolism up!

That means i've done 20 miles in 20 weeks! A good start to my 2010, I'd say!

New Motivation!

Had a great run today. I had a lot of trouble getting out of bed this morning (went to bed too late last night and didn't get to sleep in this weekend at all) BUT now that I've picked my hip hugging wedding dress, I have even MORE motivation to get up and log those miles! I'm glad that I did, because I was only intending to do 3 miles today, but had some extra time, was feeling good, and decided to go for the full 4. I kept a pretty steady 6.6 pace through most of the run. I wasn't in the mood to do interval training today.

My knee started to hurt at mile 3.75. This knee will be the death of me through this training I swear....

Day 2 and Day 3:

Today:
I went to the middle floor to do a little cardio before my Total Body Conditioning Class at 8:00. Two of the 4 treadmilles were occupied and the other two didn't work. None of the tv's worked on the elipticals and the only available spinning bike wasn't plugged in and had no cord attached to it TO plug it in. I was soo pissed off and went immediately up to Ebony at the front desk to complain. So I went upstairs to the other cardio machines and only had 15 minutes at that point to work out. So I decided to warm up with a 1 mile easy run. TBC was good, but there was this really really bitchy anorexic girl that's always in class that had suuuch an attitude today it was distracting. She threw her weights down on the ground after we did a work out and as she was setting up. She kept mumbling and talking to herself and anytime we did anything remotely cardiovascular or slightly difficult, she'd either sit down/get a drink or water/or go to her purse to get GUM. She'd smack away on her gum looking incredibly bored the entire time. Quite frankly..I really wanted to punch her in the face. I think her and the teacher had a little "confrontation" outside the room after class..but I couldn't get there in time to eavesdrop! Oh well...It was a good class for me. It feels so good to be back:)

I didn't have time to run today AND I forgot about the Tuesday and Thursday morning Total Body Conditioning classes which I was pumped for! SO...I did 10 minutes on the eliptical then did Total Body.

Day ONE

Day One: Back to the daily gym grind. BUT..it feels good. Got up at 6:15...gym by 7:30...worked out until 8:55

Ran 3 miles today. Got a side sticker near the end of my run which sucked but I was able to run most of it. I also did some intervals (ran 2 minutes, walked 1)
